: Ethical approval was obtained from the Ethics and Research Committee of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Ile-Ife, Nigeria where the study was carried out under IRB/IEC/0004553 and NHREC/27/02/2009a and protocol number ERC/2019/06/12. The Ethics committee of the hospital is under the National Health Research Ethics committee (NHREC) of the Federal ministry of Health in Nigeria which is affiliated to the West African Bio-ethics centre. Informed and written consent was obtained from all the participants after providing a detailed explanation of the purpose of the study, procedures, and liver biopsy.
