Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Permission to interview and conduct observations in the older people’s homes was given by the Regional Ethics Committee in Uppsala, Sweden (Reg. No. 2013/515). The older people were not regarded as being dependent on the interviewer/observer in any way, and they could decline participation in the study at any time without giving a reason. While observing the body language of the older people and the staff, the researcher considered it important to be sensitive and observant of any uneasiness. None of the interviews or observations that were started needed to be concluded due to observed uneasiness.
