: Full ethical approval for this study has been granted by the Bolton Clarke Human Research Ethics Committee (approval number: 170031) with administrative ethical approval granted by the Queensland University of Technology University Human Research Ethics Committee [2000000618]. These approvals include a waiver of consent for access to resident demographic, clinical and health services data. A Public Health Act (PHA) application will be submitted for resident data linkage for this project. Nursing staff and personal care workers who completed self-efficacy questionnaires will imply consent by return of completed questionnaire, as will family members who complete the awareness and experience questionnaire. All RAC home staff members, family members and other stakeholders who agree to participate in group or individual interviews must provide written consent prior to commencing the interview.All subsequent protocol amendments will be submitted as a variation to the approving ethics committees. The project manager will notify the ethics committees of deviations from the protocol or serious adverse events in accordance with local procedures.
