:
: We obtained approval for the study protocol from the ethics committee of the Dia Foundation for Research on Ageing Societies (approval no.: A30001). The committee waived the need for informed consent because of the use of anonymized claims data. Also, we conducted this study in accordance with the ethical guidelines for medical and health research involving human participants issued by the Government of Japan. These guidelines stipulate the protection of patient anonymity and state that the requirement for informed consent was waived when using anonymized data. We used this data secondarily after anonymization; we, therefore, did not obtain informed consent from each individual directly.
