: The present study was an observational study based on routine clinical care conducted in an acute geriatric unit. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) was used in accordance with current international and national recommendations, including those of the American Diabetes Association (ADA; Diabetes Care, Chap. 13: Older Adults), the European Geriatric Medicine Society (EuGMS; Bourdel-Marchasson I. et al., Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, 2023), and the Société Francophone du Diabète (SFD).In this context, the use of CGM was part of standard care in our department for insulin-treated older adults, and no additional intervention, modification of treatment strategy, or randomization was performed for research purposes. The study consisted solely of a retrospective analysis of routinely collected clinical and CGM data. Although CGM had been routinely used in the unit for several years, these data had not previously been analyzed for research purposes.According to French regulations governing observational studies based exclusively on routine care and anonymized data (loi Jardé), formal approval from a local ethics committee or institutional review board was not required. In accordance with French regulations on personal data protection, the study was declared and conducted under the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) reference methodology MR-004, which governs research based on the retrospective analysis of routinely collected health data (CNIL registration number: 24501189). Oral informed consent was obtained from all participants after provision of written study information. This study was conducted in full compliance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki, and investigators involved in the study were trained in Good Clinical Practice.
