Ethics approval and consent to participate: The Longitudinal Ageing Study in India (LASI) Wave 1 was conducted in accordance with established ethical guidelines and received approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Institutional Ethics Committee of the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai. Written informed consent was obtained from all respondents prior to their participation in the survey. As the present study utilised de-identified, publicly available secondary data from LASI, no additional ethical clearance or participant consent was required for this analysis.
