: The study protocol was approved by Department of Research and Ethical Review Committee (DRERC) of College of Health Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University. Permission letter to conduct the study was obtained from department of internal medicine endocrinology and metabolism unit (diabetic center), School of Medicine at Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, College of Health Sciences.Written informed consent was obtained from each of the participants after the purpose of the study had been explained to them. Participants were allowed to decide whether or not to participate in the study.
