Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was conducted in accordance with the Council for International Organisations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) International Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Human Subjects and International Ethical Guidelines for Epidemiological Studies. The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of MSF (Study ID: 1646) and the Chadian Ministry of Health. Each individual ≥18 years of age was asked to provide informed written consent to participate in the study. For children between 8 and 18 years of age, their caretaker was asked to provide informed written consent for study participation and the child was asked to provide written assent to participate in the study. For children < 8 years of age, only the parent/caretaker provided written informed consent for their participation.
