Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The data-collection protocol was confirmed by the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information ( ). Additional approval from an ethics committee was deemed not necessary as no patient-identifying data were collected. As only routine in laboratories readily available testing data were collected a no additional testing of the samples were performed, consent to participate was deemed not necessary. According to the German Data Protection Act the study complies with the national guidelines, and no formal ethical committee approval was necessary (available under ).
