: Ethical clearance was deemed not necessary by the Institutional Review Board of the Research Institute of Tuberculosis, Japan Anti-Tuberculosis Association, as the electronic JTBS data do not include case identifiers per the Ethical Guidelines for Epidemiological Research established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan. For the same reason, consent to participate from the patients was not collected.
