: This study is approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) and the Ethics Committee of the University Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium and the initial study description is approved by the Ethical Committee of the National Institute of Malariology, Parasitology and Entomology and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. The study was carried out according to the principles stated in the Declaration of Helsinki, all applicable national regulations and according to established international scientific standards.All participants were willing and able to provide written informed consent by signature; in case the person was illiterate informed consent was given by thumbprint and a signature of an impartial witness.
