Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The Ethical Committee of the Medical Faculty at the University of Würzburg, Germany approved the study protocol. Informed consent was obtained from parents or legal guardians in the prospective surveillance studies (PP, PICU). Retrospective review of PW patient files at our own hospital pediatric ward was consented by the Data Protection Office, University Hospital of Würzburg, based on the regulations of the Bavarian Hospital Law [BayKrG, Art. 27(4)]. All analyses were performed solely on anonymized data.
