: The TB LION protocol is approved for scientific content and compliance with human subjects’ research regulations by the Institutional Review Boards of BUMC, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) Ethics Committee and Scientific Advisory Committee, as well as the Health Ministry Screening Committee (HMSC) in India. Any changes to the protocol are reviewed and approved by site review boards before implementation in order to ensure participant safety and study validity. As this study is minimal risk to participants site review boards did not require a Data Monitoring Committee. The ClinicalTrials.gov identifier is NCT03598842. All investigators and study staff are trained in research ethics and human subjects’ research. Written informed consent is obtained on every participant before any study activities begin.
