: Although the study did not involve any human experiments, but rather only patients’ records, informed consents were sought from participants and management at each hospital involved. Nevertheless, the study design and data collection procedures followed the ethical principles as outlined in the World Medical Association (WMA) declaration [CitationRef removed, CitationRef removed]. All the data collected were treated with confidentiality. The study was approved by MoH in Malawi through National Health Sciences Research Committee (NHSRC) with approval number 2187, and University of Freiburg Ethics Committee (29/20).
