: The actual data collection started after ethical clearance was obtained from the Ethical Review Committee of Arsi University College of Health Science. A formal letter of cooperation was sent to Asella Referral Hospital and the Asella town health office. All the study participants were informed about the purpose of the study, risk, benefit, their right to refuse and voluntarily participation. The participants were assured that the information would be kept confidential, the name of the study participants was not included in the questionnaire, and informed verbal consent was obtained prior to the interview. At the end of each interview, awareness about cervical cancer was provided to the study participants, as was the importance of screening.
