: All SNAC-K waves and potential usage of data in scientific research and publications were approved by the Local Ethics Committee at Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the Regional Ethical Review Board in Stockholm (Reference numbers: KI 01-114, 04-929/3, Ö26-2007, 2009/595 − 32, 2010/447 − 31/2, 2013/828 − 31/3 and 2016/730 − 31/1). Written informed consent was obtained from all participants prior to their involvement in the study. For participants with cognitive impairment, informed consent was sought and provided by their next of kin, who were fully briefed on the study’s purpose, procedures, risks, and benefits to ensure that the decision was made in the best interest of the participant. The written informed consents and the possibility to contact next of kin in the case of cognitive impairment were submitted to and reviewed by the ethics committees, and approvals were received in accordance to the aforementioned approvals and their reference numbers.
