This study was approved by the Queen’s Ethics Board for Research in Humans; ethics reference: DEMD-2405–20. All participants provided written (electronic) consent. The consent form covered information on (i) the content and duration of the questionnaire; (ii) the use of blood samples; (iii) the need for monthly surveillance; and (iv) the need for potential further follow-up contact. A second consent was obtained from participants to collect data during the Omicron wave which went beyond the originally planned 9–12 month follow-up period. No personal, identifying information was collected through the study questionnaires.
