This study was approved by the Research, Ethics and Biosafety Committees at INSP (CI: 1680 CB: 1671) and the Servicios de Salud de Morelos (DAM/SEIC/DIC/2076/2020), who waived the need for participant consent. This exemption was granted as the samples analyzed came from individuals suspected of having COVID-19, as part of the sentinel surveillance system within the SISVER, under Mexico’s National Epidemiological Surveillance System (SINAVE) of the Ministry of Health.
