: The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee of the Université de Nouakchott and the study was supervised by the coordinator of the Neglected Tropical Disease program (059/MS/DGS) and adhered to the ethical guidelines outlined in the 1975 Declaration of Helsinki.
