The proposal was cleared for ethics and scientific merit by the National Health Research Ethics Committee (NatHREC) of the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR). Written informed consent was obtained from all participants, their parents (for minors) and legally authorized representatives before they were enrolled into the study. Permission to conduct the study in study areas/sites was sought from respective authorities in the study regions, districts, local authorities, and health facilities.
