: Ethical Approval was granted by Makerere University School of Public Health Research and Ethics Committee (MakSPH-REC) under protocol number 308. MakSPH-REC is accredited by the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST). Further approval was granted by Gulu Regional Referral Hospital Research and Ethics Committee (GRRH-REC) under instrument; REC/2023/11/04. All methods were performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Verbal and written consent were sought and consent forms were signed for consenting adolescents aged 18 years and above while caregivers consented for those aged 5–17 years. Consent was also sought from in-depth and key informant interview participants for audio voice recordings. The adolescents and caregivers were informed of their voluntary nature of participation and free withdrawal from the study.
