: This study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of the Fundação de Medicina Tropical Doutor Heitor Vieira Dourado (CEP/FMT-HVD), under the following protocol numbers: CAAE: 98665118.6.0000.0005, Opinion No. 2.227.259, and retrospective approval No. 4.882.245. Given the retrospective nature of the study and the exclusive use of anonymized data extracted from medical records, obtaining individual informed consent from participants was not feasible. In accordance with Brazilian regulations — Resolutions No. 466/2012 and No. 510/2016 of the National Health Council — a formal waiver of informed consent was granted by the CEP/FMT-HVD. The research team also signed a Term of Commitment for Data Use (TCUD), ensuring confidentiality and ethical handling of all data collected. This waiver is formally documented and available upon request.
