: The permission to conduct this study was given by the directorates of different hospitals and the National Public Health Institute. The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the Ethical and Review Committee of the National Institute of Public Health of Burundi (Ref: Decision CIE/09/2024). This research work was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Informed consent was waived by the Institutional Ethical and Review Committee of the National Institute of Public Health because the data were not collected directly from the UTI patients but from the biobank of bacterial isolates of different hospital laboratories. The privacy of the study subjects’ information was preserved according to national and international regulations.
