Ethics approval and consent to participate: The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Kinshasa School of Public Health (ESP/CE/036/2023) and Tulane University (ref. 2023 − 1828). Written informed consent was obtained from all participants. Following consent, selected participants were invited to take part in an in-depth individual interview using a semi-structured interview guide. To preserve participant anonymity, all informants are referred to using pseudonyms. All study procedures were conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional research committee and the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki.
