The study was performed in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and under London South East Research Ethics Committee (reference 18/LO/2048) approval granted to the King’s Electronic Records Research Interface (KERRI); specific work on COVID19 research was reviewed in March 2020 and reaffirmed in April 2020 with expert patient input on a virtual committee with Caldicott Guardian oversight. Additional lawful data processing was permitted under, the Health Service Control of Patient Information Regulations 2002 (COPI) Notice, which was issued by the UK Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in March 2020 providing a legal basis for processing confidential patient information without consent for Covid-19 healthcare.
