: The study was adhered to the Declaration of Helsinki and was approved by the South Western Sydney Local Health District Human Research Ethics Committee (AU/1/970A317) in Australia and the Northern B Health and Disability Ethics Committee (19/NTB/133) in New Zealand. All TEACH-PD participants provided written and informed consent prior to the commencement of any research activities. We confirm that all methods were performed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations. This study did not include the use of tissue samples. The patient information and consent forms were approved by a responsible Independent Ethics Committee with jurisdiction for the participating cluster prior to the beginning of the trial at that cluster. Eligible participants were presented with the participant information sheet and consent form outlining the purpose and design of the trial. ANZDATA provided de-identified, aggregated data for patients who commenced PD during the trial recruitment period but who were not enrolled in TEACH-PD for comparative analysis. ANZDATA had ethical approval from the Royal Adelaide Hospital Human Research Ethics Committee (approval number HREC/17/RAH/408R20170927) through to 29 November 2027.
