: The study was approved by the Bioethics Committee of the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology in Warsaw and the informed consent was signed by all of the patients who participated in this study (permission number: 16/2009). There were no patients recruited to this study who would have required legal representation due to cognitive impairments. The clinicians who took informed consent from the patients were aware that some individuals could have undiagnosed cognitive disturbances. Therefore, when collecting informed consent from participants, physicians put much effort to ensure that patients understood the ethical and medical aspects of the study and were able to give informed consent to participate in this research project. The study was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki.
