Ethics approval and consent to participate: This study was approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of Peking University Third Hospital (approval No. IRB00006761-L-0112) and was conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki. The present analysis used de-identified clinical, laboratory, biological-sample, and follow-up data from an approved ALS registry/resource-bank cohort. Written informed consent was obtained from all recruited patients at enrolment under the approved consent procedure. The consent forms described the research purpose, peripheral blood collection and storage, confidentiality of personally identifiable information, voluntary participation, and the use of research results in scientific reports.
