Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval was received from South West – Cornwall and Plymouth Research Ethics Committee (16/SW/0336) and the R&D departments at both participants Trusts. All participants were asked to sign a consent form to indicate their agreement to participate in the study.
: All participants signed a consent form that included a statement for agreement to use their data for publication purposes.
: The authors have been awarded funds by the NIHR Public Health programme for a stage IV trial of the ABA intervention. KJ reports grants from NIHR, local authority funding for the intervention, and part-funding by NIHR CLAHRC West Midlands during the conduct of the study. Alongside her Cardiff University role, HT also worked part-time as a Senior Researcher for NCT charity during the period that the research was conducted. NCT provides breastfeeding peer support services. NCT volunteers were not included in this study. PH led on the FEST feasibility trial which is cited in this paper. The FEST feasibility trial informed parts of the design of the ABA study.
