Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was, in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki, approved by the Regional Committee on Medical and Health Research Ethics (2015/678 REK South-East 20.05.2015). Our research project was approved according to the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) at 11.06.2020 (P360: 18/10697). Most of the antenatal information in MBRN is mandatory, and not subject to consent. In accordance with the current MBRN-regulations from 1/1–2002; §1–7, mothers are given an option to refrain from providing smoking information. Written information about the right to refrain are provided to the mother, and data about consent to give smoking information (yes/no) are included in the notification forms that are sent to MBRN.
