: The Rwanda Demographic Health Survey (RDHS) data that was used in the analysis was secured, free and publicly accessible for the researchers (). Procedures used and the standard DHS survey used were reviewed and approved by the Rwanda National Ethics Committee, and the Institutional Review Board of ICF International. The Institutional Review Board of ICF ensures that the survey complies with the U.S Department of Health and Human Services regulations for the protection of human subjects while the Host country’s institutional review board (IRB) ensures that the survey complies with laws, ethics and norms of the nations. All procedures were performed in accordance with the principles of ethical standards according to the Declaration of Helsinki.
