: Ethical approval for this study was granted through ethical approval for the ALERT project by the National Ethics Committee for Health Research, Cotonou, Benin (N°83/MS/DC/SGM/CNERS/ST; N°68/MS/DRFMT/CNERS/SA) and the Swedish Ethical Review Authority (2020-01587) []. All participants provided oral informed consent to be interviewed and recorded before the interviews. Hospital managers provided their consent to our conducting observations in the ward.
