: Ethical clearance for the research was obtained from the research, publication and technology transfer directorate director of Jigjig University. The study was approved by the Ethics committee of Jigjig University. Written informed consent was obtained from all the participants. The purpose of the study was explained to study participants before giving consent. Confidentiality was maintained at all levels of the study. Participants were informed about their nutritional status. All pregnant mothers who were undernourished during the study period were given appropriate nutrition counseling.
