: Ethical approval during this research was in compliance with the Helsinki declaration and national ethical guidelines. Ethical approval was obtained from Assosa University College of Health Science, Institutional Review Board (IRB), with a reference number ASU/IRB/055/15. Permission was also obtained from the Assosa general administrative office and the gynecology and obstetrics department head. We obtained oral consent from the study participants. The research was done based on the ethical chick list of the university guideline research ethics. Data was collected anonymously; the confidentiality and the privacy of every mother’s information were kept and protected from third-party use. The need for written informed consent was waived by the university institute review board (IRB) and hospital management boards because this study posed no risk, and the participants were not affected by retrospective chart review. Data analysis and use were done in accordance with the ethical guidelines and regulations of the university and national outlined by the approving research ethics board.
