: The study received approval from the Faculty of Medicine Research Committee, Mbarara University of Science and Technology Research Ethics Committee (REC No. MUST-2022-747), and the Uganda National Council of Science and Technology (Ref. No. HS3043ES). Administrative clearance was granted by the Hospital Director of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital. Informed consent was obtained from all participants, and confidentiality was maintained using unique identifiers. Participants were free to withdraw at any time, and those who experienced loss were referred for psychosocial support. Participation was voluntary, and health education on child spacing and postpartum family planning was provided to participants at the end of the interview. The study adhered to the ethical guidelines set by Helsinki and CIOMS-2002 (Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences) regarding research with humans, to prevent any physical or moral harm to participants.
