: This study was approved by the Mbarara University of Science and Technology Research Ethics Committee (REC No. 04/10–20) and Uganda National Council of Science and Technology No. HS1093ES. Administrative clearance was obtained from the offices of the Hospital Directors of the participating hospitals. Written informed consent was obtained from each study participant before recruitment and participation in the study. Confidentiality of the study participants was ensured by using unique identifiers. Participants were free to withdraw from the study at any time. Recruitment into the study was voluntary and free.
