Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the South Western Sydney Local Health District Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Reference: HREC/14/LPOOL/186; project number 14/103) for the analysis of human rectal cancer tissue samples obtained from the CONCERT Biobank, Liverpool Hospital, Sydney, Australia. The institutional review board waived the need for written informed consent from the participants as the project was deemed to be in the low or negligible risk category in accordance with the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) ‘National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research’, 2007, sections “ ”.6–2.1.7.
