: The physiological interactions between T cells and tumor-associated macrophages can only be investigated within the mammalian animal model, as it provides a complete immune system including the entirety of its complex interactions. Still, performance of the animal experiments followed the 3R principle, in order to minimize the number of animals recruited for the experiments and to reduce their burden. The mice were housed and treated at the DKFZ animal facility. Animal experiments were approved by the District Government (Regierungspräsidium Karlsruhe) in Karlsruhe, Germany (approval ID 35–9158.81/G172–12).
