: The data used in this study were collected by the New Zealand Ministry of Health under the Cancer Registry Act, 1993 and pursuant regulations (1994). Under this act, notification of all cancers (excluding non-melanoma skin cancers) is required by law and individual consent is not sought. The Cancer Registry Act 1993 states that the purposes of the New Zealand Cancer Registry are:a. to provide information on the incidence of, and mortality from, cancerb. to provide a basis for cancer survival studies and research programmes.The New Zealand Ministry of Health provides raw data to the Hugh Adam Cancer Epidemiology Unit of the University of Otago with the approval of the Health and Disability Ethics Committees MEC/09/65/EXP/AM06.
