: The registration of the data extracted from the national registries is compulsory, although some data are incomplete, such as that for the tumour stage. Patients included in this study population were identified by the authorities at the Finnish Cancer Register. No actions were required by patients included in this study. After identification, data were anonymised. The individual patients will neither benefit nor be harmed by their inclusion in this study. The main benefit to the academic community is further knowledge regarding the long-term outcomes of Finnish colorectal cancer patients. No adverse effects to the individual are expected. All physicians conducting the study followed the principles of professional patient confidentiality. Due to the retrospective nature of the study and the large study population, approval of the study was sought and granted, as demanded by Finnish law, from the National Supervisory Authority of Health and Welfare.
