: The hospital has an agreement with the district health administration to conduct cancer registration. This study solely utilised the de-identified data of population-based cancer registry, Varanasi which is part of the hospital services and routine public health surveillance to monitor impact of cancer control programme in the district. Furthermore, no individual participants were contacted for the study. Such activities are exempted from the ethical review by an institutional review board as per the national [] and international guidelines []. Hence, ethics approval or consent to participate was not deemed to be necessary for the study. The study was conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Declaration of Helsinki regarding research with human subjects.
