: The study was not submitted for research ethics approval as the activities described were conducted as part of the Nationwide Readmission Database (NRD), which is part of the family of databases and software tools developed for the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) and uses de-identified data collected from hospitalized patients. Consent was not obtained, given the use of a de-identified database. All the experiments in our study were under the guidelines and agreement regulations of the Agency Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
