Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This study has received approval from the Hamilton Integrated Research Ethics Board (project number 2403) and the University of Manitoba Health Research Ethics Board. Permission to collect EDI data on kindergarten children was obtained from the respective provincial and territorial governments. With the exception of the province of Alberta, which required active, written consent from parents, data in all the other regions were collected via passive consent.
