Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study protocol was accepted by the Ethics Committee of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland originally on May 15, 2012 (no5/2012) and an extension was granted on September 16, 2014 (no9/2014). Permissions to conduct the study were given by all the hospitals. The staff introduced the study protocol to parents and gave them at least one day to consider their participation. After the parents signed the informed consent form, they were given instructions for use of the closeness diaries.
