: The Ethical clearance letter was obtained from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of University of Gondar, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Institute of Public Health (IRB. No_/IPH/676/2/2019) (Additional file InternalRef removed). Permission was asked from Gandhi memorial hospitals administration before the kick-off of the project. Informed consent was obtained from all participants. Illiterate mothers assured their consent by putting their signature using a finger button after the consent form was read to them by the persons they trust more. The information about the study participants was kept confidential. It's believed that there was no anticipated harm to the participants except for their time at the time of data collection. All methods of this research were done following the declaration of Helsinki.
