: Before conducting this study an ethicalclearance letter was obtained from the ethical review board committee of the School of Nursing on behalf of the institutional review board of the University of Gondar, with a Ref. No:-S/N040/2015. Waiver letter of cooperation was secured from hospital administrators (medical directors), since the neonates were not directly involved in this study (the data were obtained from chart), informed consent was not required, but extracted data from medical records were kept confidential. All methods were carried out following the Declaration of Helsinki and relevant guidelines and regulations. So, anonymity was maintained by using the identified number instead of the patient’s name. Besides, all data extracted was kept confidential and not used for any other purpose than the stated objective.
