: Before the study opened, ethical approval was obtained from the following committees: Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee, University of Nottingham on 2 March 2021. As the quantitative study involved healthcare professionals completing an alternative style monitoring chart only and there was no intervention or identifiable data collected, individual written informed consent was not sought, an approach approved by the ethics committees noted above. Information about the study was displayed in English and Swahili to inform parents that the study was being conducted and encouraging them to ask questions. Written informed consent was taken from participants prior to focus group discussions and interviews.
