: The study was in compliance with Helsinski Declaration. There was protection of human dignity. As regards consent to participate, this was a retrospective study and consent to participate by individual participants or their caregivers were not applicable. However, consent to extract data, analyze and publish was sought for and obtained from the Institutional (UUTH) Ethical Board Committee for the newborns who were routinely managed for the clinical condition studied– neonatal seizures. We strove for maximum potential benefits for the participants and minimized potential harm. The research was conducted with scientific rigor and ensured that the findings were valid and reliable. This study was approved by the Institutional Ethical Board of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo.
