: Ethical clearance and permission were obtained from Adama Hospital Medical College (AHMC) institutional ethical review board (IRB) and Oromia Health Bureau by a letter referenced BEF/IF/H16/10292 and written on 08/03/2023. The objective of the study was explained to all concerned bodies. Informed verbal consent was taken from the participants to confirm their willingness to participate. The potential benefit of participating in the study was explained to all the participants confidentiality of the information was assured and privacy of the participants was maintained. Those who were not willing to participate or refused in the middle of the study were given the full right to discontinue the interview. All identified severe acute malnutrition children were linked to the nearby health facility.
