Ethical clearance was obtained from the University of Zambia Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee (UNZAHSREC; ID: 20231270233) and the National Health Research Authority (NHRA; Registration No. NHRAR-R-1922/30/08/2024). The study was registered with the Pan African Clinical Trial Registry (PACTR202512685522786) in December 2024. Permission to conduct the study was granted by the Head of Clinical Care Administration at Livingstone University Teaching Hospital. Written informed consent was obtained from all caregivers prior to participation.
